The fucking of the dress at the end of the film is symbolic of Johnny’s disdain for his seemingly-perfect relationship with Lisa (since revealed to be a total fallacy), his rage at his best friend and future wife’s betrayal, and his frustration at himself for having been taken in all the while. Like Denny’s consumption of the apple at the film’s beginning, the dress masturbation is a metaphor made flesh, a visual representation of the character’s innermost emotions.
Masterful.
